Updated: May 11

Icebreaker Activity: “Never Have I”: Set up a circle of chairs. The student standing in the middle of the circle calls out “Never have I ____________”. Anyone in the chairs who agrees (who has never______) will get up and try to find an empty chair. The student who was in the middle finds an empty chair. The one without a chair would go stand in the middle and the game starts again.

Objective: Learn how to come up with a business idea and start a basic business plan.

Activity: Experimenting with AI chat software.

Use ChatGPT to generate simple business ideas both for product and service businesses. This will give you some ideas of some money-making businesses. Write down (on paper or on a document program on your laptop) some of your favorite products AND services. Remember, we are just brainstorming ideas.

In Chat GPT: type in “Generate simple business ideas both for product and service businesses”

Do you like these ideas? Let’s get even MORE ideas… Ask Chat GPT “Can you provide more?” Watch how magically another list of cool ideas appear for both products and services.

Activity: Discover YOUR Passions and Interests:

(On your laptop using word processing software, Google Docs, or on a piece of paper) Write out a list of everything that you really like to do (hobbies) & the things that you are really good at? This is called IDEATION! You’ll realize all the cool things you like and can do. One of these interests or skills can be a great business idea.

Let’s see how Chat GPT can help develop an awesome business out of your interests/skills.

Ask ChatGPT what type of business you can start with some of your top interests!

Activity: Decide on a Business!

Remember, while you can start a full money-making business with your idea, in this course we’re just going to use your first business idea as just practice! Let’s choose something to start with!

What is your business idea?_____________________

Class Activity: What’s Your Business?

THE INSTRUCTOR CAN READ THIS OR STUDENTS CAN READ ON THEIR OWN...

BUSINESS PLAN with ChatGPT

With our ideas in hand, it’s time to map out our journey. A business plan might sound serious, but it's just telling the story of your future business. ChatGPT can help us outline this story. From detailing what you're going to sell or what service you want to provide to figuring out who will want to buy it, ChatGPT can guide you through creating a business plan that's both practical and exciting.

ChatGPT can guide you in structuring your plan with key pieces:

  • Executive Summary: ChatGPT can help you summarize your business concept, your vision, and what makes it special.

  • Business Description: Here, you’ll define what your business does. ChatGPT can help you articulate your ideas clearly and attractively.

  • Market Analysis: Who will buy your t-shirts, lemonade, or use your dog walking service? ChatGPT can assist in researching your audience and understanding what they really want.

  • Sales Strategies: This is about how you'll sell your product. ChatGPT can help brainstorm innovative sales tactics suitable for your peers.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT (IN CASE THE VIDEO ABOVE DOESN'T PLAY):

Objective: Learn how to come up with a business idea and start a basic business plan.

As we step into another session of our entrepreneurial journey, it's time to let our imaginations take flight. This week, we are not just students; we are inventors, creators, and future CEOs. And guess what? We have a secret tool in our toolbox – ChatGPT, our AI companion, ready to help us transform our wildest ideas into a business plan.

The Magic of Ideas with ChatGPT

Ideas are the lifeblood of any business. Think of an idea as a seed; with the right care, it can grow into a mighty tree. But sometimes, finding that seed can be tricky. This is where ChatGPT shines! An idea is a powerful start to your business journey. But where do ideas come from? ChatGPT can help you unlock the potential of your passions by asking probing questions to help you create a product or a service business.

Defining Products and Services

A product is something you can touch, like a kitchen gadget or a bracelet, while a service is something you do for someone, like tutoring or dog walking. Now, the most important thing both products and services should do is solve a problem or fulfill a need.
